Henceforth, private swimming-pools or of joint use are subject to the provisions of the law nr. 2003-9 relating to swimming-pool security.
As of January 1st, 2004 this law provides the installation of standardized security equipment around swimming pools. |

The decree for enforcing the law of January 3, 2003 on security in swimming-pools provides that the owners of private swimming-pools, for either individual or joint use (i.e. family or resident-reserved swimming-pools, swimming-pools in holiday clubs and centres, hotels, self-catering cottages, camping, etc), open air swimming-pools with buried or semi-buried pool, install a security device in accordance with AFNOR NF P90-306, NF P90-307, NF P90-308 and NF P90-309 standards.
